Vorjahresmeister Jürgen mit maximaler Punktzahl in den ersten beiden Rennen.
Heiße Temperaturen und extreme Spannung der Saisionauftakt der Spezial-Tourenwagen-Trophy riss die Zuschauer in der Magdeburger Börde sprichwörtlich von den Sitzen. Michael Schrey im Porsche Turbo war an der Spitze nicht zu stoppen, doch dahinter tobte ein wildes Duell zwischen STT-Rekordsieger Rolf Rummel und Daniel Schrey.
Jürgen Hohenester auf Audi TT mit seinem 1150 ccm Turbomotor und 340 PS war bester nicht Porsche und kam hinter Lars Schönemann auf Gesamtposition sechs ins Ziel. Lange hatte sich Hohenester mit BMW M3 Pilot Ulrich Becker beharkt. Für Becker endete das Rennen noch vor Michi (BMW M3 V8).
Auch im Rennen Nummer zwei war Michael Schrey nicht zu schlagen. Der Porsche Supercup erfahrene Pilot kontrollierte das Rennen von der ersten Runde an und siegte souverän. Dahinter ging erneut die Post ab. Zuerst lag Rolf Rummel vor Lars Schönemann der in der zweiten Runde einen Verbremser von Rummel am Ende der Start- und Zielgeraden nutzen konnte. Rummel klebte aber schon bald wieder am Heck des Dänen. Eine Runde später war der STT-Rekordmeister endgültig vorbei.
In der Zweiliterklasse hatte es lange Zeit nach einem Sieg für Joachim Bunkus im Triuph Dolomite ausgesehen. STT Meister Jürgen Hohenester musste wegen Lenkungsproblemen die Box ansteuern, kam dann aber wieder mit mächtig Dampf im Kessel am Dolomite Piloten vorbei. Die einzelnen Klassensiege gingen an Michael Schrey, Ulrich Becker und Jürgen Hohenester.
